The years are short

The days are long, but the years are short.

We've heard it all before, because it's true. Your life including baby transforms into something magical. It is faster, slower, crazy, clear, tiring, and energizing, all at once. I spend my days chronicling Dashiell's every move, trying to hold on to every moment, because I know that one day, much too soon, it will feel like it was just yesterday. I even have a mental file for the smell of his sweet, milky breath and the soft sighs he sings in his sleep. So while we are often on the go, taking trips here and there, I feel like our life is playing like a slow motion film. We spend our days hopping around from place to place, nomads in our own world. Scheduled, but unscheduled.

It's such the paradox, isn't it? This babyland we are in? Is it one that only a mother could understand? Anyway, whatever it is, this is our new style.

Here we are at a secret little spot that we love sneaking off to. It's part cafe, part art exhibit. "A playful collision of spaces," is what they say about themselves. Seemed fitting for this particular post.

P.S. The Art of Cooking exhibit is on display until August 1st. Go see it, if you can. In fact, visit this little place for some breakfast or some tea, if you have never been. They are closing their doors permanently come this summer.

P.P.S. We couldn't resist taking home this little gem. Doesn't she look delicious? Mini egg tarts have been one of my favorite desserts since I was a little girl.
