Ombré Hair

Will someone tell me if ombré highlights are so 2011? I had accidentally ombréd hair when I was pregnant because I was scared to have it colored. I think that's when it was all the rage? What about now? Will I look a fool coming out of the salon? 'Tis a difficult decision! These ladies look lovely, don't they?
